sanity on HNThis is broadly correct. > CvRDTs also need idempotence, so they can handle duplicate data. Either they are idempotent too (which would make it semilattice-like), or the network…

Name reuse from the original Freenet (Hyphanet) is controversial
From 2 comments
You're getting this wrong. He has forked the project (to something that does not share the same goals so "fork" is arguable here), took the name, the cash and the goodwill. We…
nextgens on HN> Though reusing the name for an entirely different project with a different codebase is disingenuous to say the least. Same project, same goals, and it's not even the first time…

Anonymity goals seen as weakened
From 2 comments
I wouldn't describe it as "less anonymity", it's more that the new Freenet gives applications and users different choices about anonymity depending on their requirements. I don't…
sanity on HN> the _point_ of freenet was that you could anonymously share/store information. As you can with the new Freenet, you just get a menu of options instead of being forced to use a…

How do the goals differ from original Freenet
From 2 comments
How are the goals different?
sanity on HNAnd yet I still haven't seen anyone explain how the goals actually differ. Interestingly, there seems to be very little overlap between the people giving substantive technical…

How to handle mobile support
From 2 comments
In principle but we don't yet support mobile except experimentally, in part due to mobile OS restrictions (eg. iOS apps can't embed webassembly).
sanity on HNYes, iOS is the main headache. The other issue is that people probably won't want it using their mobile network bandwidth in the background, but that's solvable.

Gnutella
From 1 comment
Gnutella was decentralized like Freenet, but it's broadcast search approach limited scalability relative to Freenet's "small-world" approach which can scale indefinitely.

BitTorrent

I'm not sure what you mean, Freenet is at least as decentralized as bittorrent.
