What people liked

  • Small size and simple, clean design

    From 4 comments
    • I like it. Definitely gets the point of "KISS".

    • This is nice, will definitely use it in my next project.
      aliirz on HN
    • It has a very nice flat design to it, I like it. I might just use it and possibly extend it at some point.

    • Well, I'm impressed. Looks sort of like an old bootstrap.

Objections

  • A 10-column grid is an odd choice; 12 is more common

    From 3 comments
    • Why a 10 column grid? 12 makes much more sense to me since it is divisible by 2, 3, 4 and 6 while 10 is only divisible by 2 and 5. 12 gives more options with hardly any…
      akcreek on HN
    • Yup, that's a really weird choice. The most common layouts are the ones with 3 or 4 equal sized columns, and I just don't see how one would use this grid to do that?
      ivanhoe on HN
    • Nice work, although a little useless right now. It would be nice if your browser support was a little more informative than "The latest versions of Chrome, FF, Safari". What…

  • Not needed as a framework; plain CSS is enough

    From 2 comments
    • At this point/size, why do you even need a 'framework'? I think anybody who wants to adopt this kit and modify it a bit might as well just code the css themselves.
      granttimmerman on HN
    • Most of you people are very smart, and I'm sure code very complex apps/services. Seriously, you can write this much CSS on your own. You don't need a framework.

  • Tables break on small screens

    From 2 comments
    • The tables are a bit busted on the smallest breakpoint, but other than that it's pretty awesome for the size. Well played sir.
      sekasi on HN
    • Very nice. Although the tables mess of the responsiveness a bit. Don't compress fully.

  • Size claim under 2 kb is inaccurate; file is 2.594 kb

    From 1 comment
    • a) This is rididiculous b) It isn't "even less than 2 kb" file 2 lines (1 sloc) 2.594 kb (https://github.com/andhart/bijou/blob/master/css/bijou.css)

Requests

  • Switch to a 12-column grid

    From 2 comments
    • Honestly, it was a choice I made late in the night. I think I'm going to rework it now to be 12 columns.
      J-H on HN
    • Thanks for all the very good points. I really need to do some more testing on other browsers, and then I'll be able to give a minimum requirement. So that will definitely be part…

  • Make columns stack on mobile

    From 1 comment
    • The columns should probably break down and resize to 100% for mobile devices - your 420px container. I'm not sure what will fit in a the one, two, and three width columns...…

  • How would one use this framework in practice

    From 1 comment
    • How would one even use this 'framework'? One would imagine that the first step is to design the web site, then implement it, and it's unlikely that the design looks similar to…
