What HN said

What people liked

  • Neat idea, like QEMU for VT52 escape sequences

    From 1 comment
    • Ends up being sort of like QEMU, translating VT52 input/outputs into the input/ouput whatever your actual terminal is. That's pretty neat.

Objections

  • Emulation is inaccurate and missing features

    From 1 comment
    • To be fair, the author doesn’t claim it’s anyway good. From the top of the README: > This is a pretty inaccurate emulator of a VT52. I'm sure it's missing several features.

Alternatives named

  • MAME VT52 driver

    From 1 comment
    • If you want to emulate the VT52, you can fire up MAME. It supports that. :) https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/mame/drivers/vt52.cpp

  • wy60 (Wyse terminal emulation)

    From 1 comment
    • There are others utilities which do the same. I imagine Wyse is much more widespread than vt52 escape sequences today: https://github.com/gutschke/wy60
